Spring Cleaning for Social Media

There are very few reasons why a professional or a business should permanently delete it's social media footprint from Twitter, Google+, Facebook, LinkedIn, or any other platform. It's better that you respond to unfavorable reviews or negative comments directly.
However, if you are linked purposely or inadvertently to a company or individual that will perpetually decrease the value of your brand, or if you're the innocent victim of an unending mob of social media bullies, then you might want a fresh start. TwitWipe (twitwipe.com) is one tool that will help you erase all of your tweets, but not your user I.D. Consider first that deleting tweets is judged as unethical and might diminish trust in your brand. On Facebook, the Exfoliate app (www.exfoliateapp.com) will help you remove old posts, comments, and "Likes" in batches of up to three year periods from your and your friends' walls. Then search for "Google's removal request tool" to clean up cached content that shows up in Google's search results after you've erased it from within your account.
